Dead Getrude Sued by the RIAA: "Night of the Living Dead" ?

They're Coming to Get You, Getrude

Not a fan of the RIAA (those music industry folks who sue your neighbors on P2P)? Then you may enjoy this story wherein a Dead, Non-Computer Owner is Sued By The RIAA For Swapping 700 Songs. By the way, she was 89 and according to her daughter, "wouldn't know how to turn on a computer." [Thanks to TechDirt for the find]

"I am pretty sure she is not going to leave Greenwood Memorial Park (where she is buried) to attend the hearing," her daughter commented.

It gives the draconian RIAA a little bit of a "Night of the Living Dead" feel. It feels like this. I forgot how classic that movie was, I think I have to get a copy.

I'm not sure if this is part of the root of Goth, especially 9 year old Kyra Schon, as “Karen Cooper”, who becomes a zombie and feasts on her dead father -- in the movie.

I'm not trying to be negative about the RIAA, mind you, but "They're coming to get you, Barbara."

[WARNING: HUMOR] Canadian John Cluckman differs on this, thinking the current U.S. Government evokes the classic horror.

Interview with Sergei Arsentiev, MP3Search.ru

Of more substance, but perhaps slightly less fun, here is an interview with Sergie Arsentiev, of Russian MP3Search.ru.

MP3Search is the second biggest Russian Legal Music Service. This service is even more controversial than their competitor Allofmp3 because MP3Search is able to add albums to their catalogue even before the official release date. Eminem's latest album Encore was available about a week before the official release.

Russian economics are a bit different than America's, not to mention how their copyright laws work. What should a digital track sell for over there? Should they also be able to sell those tracks, at Russian prices, over here via the Internet?

It's kind of like the real inexpensive shoes and knick-knacks you buy at WalMart, except the foreign laborers getting paid 2o cents an hour this time are U.S. music artists.
